ACCESS LEVEL: RESTRICTED
FILE DESIGNATION: ASYNC-LEVEL-8-DOCUMENTATION
STATUS: Active Exploration
CLASSIFICATION: Cave System
Level 8 is believed to consist of an extensive underground cave network. The environment is made up of narrow stone tunnels, large caverns, and uneven rocky terrain.
Unlike the structured environments of earlier levels, Level 8 appears to be naturally formed. Passages twist and branch in multiple directions, making navigation extremely difficult.
The walls, floors, and ceilings are composed of dark rock and mineral formations. Stalactites and stalagmites are commonly observed throughout the caves.
Some tunnels are extremely narrow and require explorers to carefully maneuver through confined spaces.
Natural lighting does not exist within Level 8. Complete darkness is common throughout most of the cave network.
Explorers rely heavily on portable lighting equipment, though the complex terrain often causes shadows and reflections that make movement difficult.
The uneven terrain presents a constant risk of injury. Sharp rock formations and sudden drops are frequently encountered.
Additionally, the maze-like structure of the caves makes it easy for explorers to become lost if proper navigation equipment is not used.
ASYNC RESEARCH NOTE:
Initial mapping attempts suggest Level 8 may extend for hundreds of kilometers in multiple directions. The cave network appears to connect to deeper and less understood regions of the Backrooms structure.

Environmental Documentation Division
Archive terminal maintained by Research Technician

All level documentation stored within this terminal
is part of an ongoing investigation into anomalous
spatial environments commonly referred to as
"The Backrooms."
Research is ongoing. Additional level reports,
survival logs, and environmental data will be
uploaded to this archive as new areas are
discovered and successfully documented by
exploration teams.
